Project Description

WeCount! is a grassroots community social justice organization in Homestead. We rent a space near downtown Homestead. As the activities we do have grown, we need to create a space that works for our small staff and our members. We have begun a youth group and a number of community-building activities, including a Mayan music and folkloric dance project, computer literacy classes, and adult literacy classes in Haitian Creole -- in addition to our ongoing community meetings and leadership training. Our space doesn't work anymore, but we love the location and think we can make it work! We need to preserve the large space we have for meetings and practices; need to create offices for staff; and set up the computer lab so it doesn't take up too much space and there aren't wires all over the place.

Timeline
We don't have a timeline, but we need to get moving on it, as we need to create better conditions for our staff and our members to carry out their work and activities.
