Sandy Response - Renovation and Raising in Oceanside
Building & Space Identification,Accessibility & Code Compliance,Healthy & Sustainable Environments
A resident in Ocean Side, NY needs professional architecture, structural and engineering services for the renovation of a 1950s, two story home as well as to raise the existing home. The home is approximately 1600 SF and the area to be renovated is approximately 1200 SF. The existing floor plan is to remain as is, no additions or redesign. The main concern is how to raise the house. Currently the residences (four adults) do not live in this home and are located nearby in a rental. Work that has been done to date is boring tests, engineers report and some electrical work.
Any FEMA requirements for insurance are to be discussed further with the owner.
Architecture for Humanity's NY Mission -
In the aftermath of super storm Sandy, Architecture for Humanity quickly responded by conducting thorough surveys of many damaged neighborhoods in the New York area. The next phase of this project, Constructing Resilient Communities Program, is to expand upon this effort and connect professionals with home owners and businesses that are in need of architectural, structural, engineering or civil services. Our goal is to provide assistance to people in an affordable, efficient and supportive way and to get the community back together again.
Would like to have construction documents started before 2013 hurricane season begins.
