Jefferson Condominiums, Pt. I: Test Fits & Feasibility Studies
During initial stages of the 612 Jefferson project, BAR Architects worked with Habitat Greater San Francisco to create test-fits and feasibility studies as part of Habitat Greater San Franciso’s decision to acquire property for the development.
Feasibility studies included multiple designs for 5-12 story residential buildings with one, two, and three bedroom condos for families earning up to 80% of the area median income, as well as analysis of alternative parcels and locations.
After analysis of the test fits and feasibility studies, Habitat Greater San Francisco chose to move forward with the 612 Jefferson Avenue location.
The project will be Habitat Greater San Francisco’s tallest building constructed to date, with five residential stories built atop a parking structure. The vacant lot - acquired by Habitat Greater San Francisco in 2015 - is located in a highly transit- and amenity-rich town center that is experiencing rapid job and housing growth.
On March 21, 2017, The Redwood City Planning Commission unanimously approved the 20-unit project, and construction is expected to begin in 2017.
