Jefferson Condominiums, Pt. II: Design

Redwood City, California
Project Description

BAR Architects is working with Habitat Greater San Francisco to create 20 condominium homes at 612 Jefferson Avenue in downtown Redwood City. The building will include one, two, and three bedroom Redwood City condos for families earning up to 80% of the area median income. The project will be Habitat Greater San Francisco’s tallest building constructed to date, with five residential stories built atop a parking structure. The vacant lot - acquired by Habitat Greater San Francisco in 2015 - is located in a highly transit- and amenity-rich town center that is experiencing rapid job and housing growth.

The final design was chosen to contextually fit the neighborhood, yet be distinctive in form. Floor plans were developed to maximize the buildable footprint while maintaining deference to the adjacent properties.

On March 21, 2017, The Redwood City Planning Commission unanimously approved the 20 unit project, and construction is expected to begin this year.
