Hawaii Nature Center Rain Pavilion

Honolulu, Hawaii
Project Description

The Rain Pavilion has provided the Hawai'i Nature Center with an additional educational space to develop their non-profit program. The design concept of the Pavilion integrates the traditional open Hawaiian "A-frame"structure with a raised roof that brings across natural daylight and ventilation. Translucent roof panels are featured to provide a visual connection to the surrounding forest. Translucent leaf-shaped plaques are highlighted in between raw wood columns to honor the various donors who made this project possible. This project will enable Hawaii Nature Center to serve up to 10,000 more children each year.
